Our purpose is to teach as many others as much of what we have learned and experienced and mastered, so that they too can apply the Vishaad Yoga techniques, firstly to their own understanding and development and then having stabilised their own lives, to give others assistance and support. These practices cannot be merely memorised and then repeated to others, a process which often masquerades as Yoga teaching these days. These practices must be mastered on the "yoga mat" of ones own personality, awareness and intellect before they can be taught. One has to first become healed of mental turmoil oneself, before one can then share these teachings and this does not happen overnight.
"Yogi's smile through their eyes even when their faces are covered by a stern mask,
others smile with their faces whilst eyes struggle to hold back tears." VishaadYogi
Vishaad Yoga practices guide you towards your inner life, introspection, inner vision and an unruffled state of mind under all conditions of life. Even an athlete or a gymnast can perform Mayurasana but until the same tranquil poise unfolds internally and is enjoyed within, its not Yoga.
Our individual Workshops are each 3 hours in length and often conducted as 4 sessions over a weekend. The topics cover the most daunting and challenging aspects of human existence and spiritual practice. The Workshops format has been designed to give an understanding and experience of what the Retreats and the individual lessons can provide. They are experiential in nature and designed to cause significant shifts in perspective and well being.

If deepening introspection and the cultivation of stillness, sensory relaxation and the most challenging tasks of mental purification resonate with you, this is the retreat for you! On a Vishaad Yoga retreat you can be certain of delving deeply into your subconscious and discovering many of the blocks preventing your mind from becoming tranquil.
A common feature of our retreats is ENERGY; out of stillness flows energy and this has to be experienced to be understood. In the safe tranquil environment of a retreat, we help you to learn the processes which will open the doorways to stillness. As you acquire inner harmony, energy levels rise automatically and great changes and genuine happiness result.
There are many retreats where a Yogin can go to enjoy physicality, to reconnect with one's body and to savour and delight in increased sensual experience. We have a slightly different approach. Whilst you are with us you will be helped to connect with stillness inside so that when you do re-connect outside, everything is more enjoyable!
Our retreats are usually for small groups (12 preferred), fully residential and are held at venues such as Braziers Park, Oxfordshire. For next year we are planning retreats in Oxford, Zurich, Dorset and a Masterclass Retreat in India.
If you would like to join a retreat, click below and register your details - we will get in touch.
There are some introductory parts of Yoga practices which can be taught in groups or classes, but the real work requires individual attention, it always has. Every person is on a journey of mental mastery and what each person needs at any time can be totally different and thats when the 1-2-1 sessions become most valuable.
Or perhaps you are here because you are interested in Yoga, either as a student or as a teacher, but are ready to explore the subtler depths of parts of our practises. Most of our students come to a workshop, start 1-2-1 sessions and then occasionally attend retreats to strengthen and stabilise their understanding and experiences.
If you, or someone close to you is under mental duress, or depressed and you are unhappy or dissatisfied with the "conventional wisdom" of a drugs based programme or traditional therapies; if you are looking for gentler more holistic and side-effect free alternatives, you are also most welcome! If you would like to know more please do get in touch..

Business leaders and Politicians alike acknowledge that Europe is approaching a crisis as the region’s debt crisis and austerity measures increase the rates of depression, suicide and psychological problems – just as governments cut healthcare spending by up to 50 percent, according to campaigners,
policy makers and health organizations. Against this backdrop, Government departments are also recognising that on a purely financial basis if nothing else, Yoga is the cheapest and most effective way to to improve mental well being and physical health.
National Mental Health Development Unit (NMHDU) estimated that the financial cost of mental illness to the wider economy amounted to 77 billion pounds a year in lost productivity and increased need for social security benefits.
For employers we have found that the most obvious benefits are:
Reduced illness-related absences - Govt estimates that 28 million work days are lost per year.
Increased productivity, due to reduced levels of stress and an improved ability to stay calm and cool.
Teamwork impro
vements, composure, equipoise,
Improved mental attitude resulting in better and raised motivation
Improved problem-solving skills as well as many other related health benefits.
