 Teaching Universitry students about Prana

(Teaching University Athletes about Prana Energy)

Satish, the founder of Vishaad Yoga, a practitioner and teacher of Jnana Yoga (the Yoga of Mental Purification) and Hatha Yoga (the Yoga of Physical Balance) was born in a rural Indian village, into a family of traditional Yogis whose daily living was based on the the Practices and Principles of Yoga.

With a solid grounding in the essential basic foundations of Yoga he started his first Advanced Pranayama practices at the age of 17, and since has been blessed with the guidance and teaching of several of India's Yoga adepts and spiritual masters.

Receiving Advanced Anant Yoga initiation from His Holiness Sri Rudrabhayananda and Kundalini Kriya Yoga with Swami Gyan Vijay Saraswati of Bihar School of Yoga (with whom he lived and practised for 2 years) to name but two, he has practiced devotedly and received and developed a deep understanding of many of the Yoga texts, many of which are still considered esoteric and are diifficult for uninitiated practitioners to have "darshan" of.

He teaches the practices for attaining Mental Health with gentle humour and great sensitivity and is working with seekers from all over the world from Manhattan to Kabul, from Preston to Peshawar.  "Heal the mind and the body will once more become, and remain, healthy. Healing the body alone can only be at best, a short term fix" is one of his guiding principles.

His particular passion is to work with persons suffering with Depression and Hypertension and he has enjoyed great success here, having helped over 1200 persons to overcome these diseases. Feel free to visit the testimonials page to read how other friends have fared. Both a teacher and a student (whilst you have a body there is always more to discover!) of meditation practices he has explored and translated many ancient techniques and as you can see from the picture (not recent!), there isn't much that he hasn't experimented with when it comes to techniques for training the monkey mind!

Satish has spent much of the last 6 years researching, studying and contemplating the Vishaad Yoga practices mentioned in the very first (and usually overlooked!) Chapter of the central Yoga Shastra, the Bhagavad Gita, as well as other ancient texts and has recontextualised and made contemporary the teachings and techniques necessary to stilling the mind using Yoga, Vishaad Yoga. These practices and teachings have never before been interpreted and made available in the West and neither in India, for at least the last millenium.  At a time when mental illness and depression are on the increase, these teachings will hopefully help reduce suffering and help students and practitioners to understand and transcend the "dark gravity" of the mind, for good.

iyn sks sYoga as a science of transformation is truly without peer but even then its not posible for a Yoga student to become an Adept without first having practised and studied for decades. According to classical Yoga texts, even lifetimes are required before a person qualifies to consider them capable of teaching! In a world where Yoga students are transformed into Teachers after only a couple of months of practice, and usually on the strength of a certificate, its reassuring to know that the IYN recognises practitioners on the strengths of their demonstrated practice and commitment to the core standards of Yoga practice. Satish has been recognised by the IYN as exceeding the requirements for demonstrating many years of personal sustained practice and also in excess of 1,000 hours of teaching experience.

Ancient Sanskrit Prayer:

Aum sarveshaam swastir bhavatu, Sarveshaam shantir bhavatu

May wellness be with all; may peace be with all

May all be happy, May all be free from disabilities

Sarve bhadraani pashyantu, Maakaschit duhkha bhaag bhavet, Aum.

May all look to the good of others; May none suffer painful fortunes

When not actively teaching he is supporting a number of charitable organisations and campaigns (visit www.saveherbalmedicine.com to see the type of insurmountable or "lost" causes he gets involved in!)
